Wild Food Intensives

Wilderness Survival
Wilderness survival is the process of using immediately available resources in intelligent ways to promote life in an isolated wild natural environment. A true "survival" situation is unplanned, unexpected, and life threatening. This differs from recreational survival which is a planned activity done for fun. In recreational survival, you are prepared for every contingency and your life is in no immediate danger. If a mishap occurs, a recreational survival situation can turn into a life-threatening wilderness survival situation. Wild Food Adventures provides workshops, custom training, and a newsletter on the role of edible wild plants and other forageables in wilderness survival situations.

Primitive Living Skills
Primitive living skills are also known as earth skills or primitive technology. Many of these skills are ancient techniques we've learned from historic hunter gatherer peoples - mostly Native Americans. They used natural resources to make a living in natural environments. This can include using wild plants for food, clothing, shelter, fire, tools, water, oil, glues, dyes, fish hooks, twine, strainers, medicine, and much more. Wild Food Adventures provides workshops, custom training, and a newsletter on the use of edible wild plants and other forageables for food and other uses. This is in both primitive and not so primitive lifestyles.

Learn the role wild foods play in Wilderness Survival and Primitive Living
Dr. Kallas of Wild Food Adventures can develop custom training programs anywhere in North America. Interested parties can also take a series of pre-designed workshops. To learn these skills it's recommended that the lower left workshops be taken as core courses, followed by the remaining workshops of interest (lower right). Another way to learn is to subscribe to the Wild Food Adventurer Newsletter - a National publication.
